Karen Handelman

Karen received her BFA in graphic design from the University of Michigan. After five years in the Chicago corporate design world and a year volunteering full-time down south with Habitat for Humanity, Karen founded 501creative.
Karen is on the board of Camp for All Kids and is active in the Flynn Park PTO. She lives in U-City and spends her spare time with husband Marc Hirshman and driving daughters Abby and Emily to gymnastics practices and meets. Karen likes a hard yoga class, home-grown tomatoes, spicy Thai food and candy (most candy…but especially plain M&Ms and chocolate covered caramels). She and Marc went on a crazy adventure to Tanzania last year. She wishes she could say they got to the summit of Kilimanjaro…but they actually had to turn around at 15,000 feet due to altitude sickness.
